The purpose of trademark opposition is to monitor the State Trademark Office rule the trademark right fairly and openly. Anyone who has different opinion on the primarily approved trademark can file an opposition to the Trademark Office under the State Administration for Industry and Commerce (CTMO) during the publication period. Opposition against any trademark should be made during the opposition term (preliminarily approved by CTMO and published in China Trademark Gazette). The period for opposition is 3 months from the date of the trademark's publication to the registered date. It takes a lot of time and energy to deal with the opposition during application. The proof needed to be provided depends on the trademark use, especially in China.
